______________________

Following the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s competitive sub-grant application process in November 2020, 32 local education agencies (LEAs) will receive services over five years under Missouri’s Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) program.

Among the services these LEAs will receive are school-level literacy assets/needs assessments, development of school/district comprehensive literacy plans, in-classroom coaching on reading foundations instruction, job-embedded professional development on all aspects of literacy, summer institutes for LEA literacy leaders, support in implementing train-the-trainer model professional development, early childhood literacy professional development and support, and more. In addition, coursework and opportunities to earn micro-credentials will be available to all Missouri pre-service and in-service teachers through the CLSD program.

This work is funded through the Comprehensive Literacy Sate Development grant awarded to DESE by the United States Department of Education.
