Accreditation Classification of School Districts
The Missouri School Improvement Program 5 has the responsibility of reviewing and accrediting the 519 school districts in Missouri. The process of accrediting school districts is mandated by state law and by State Board of Education regulation.
The Department reviews each district’s accreditation status and the APR supporting data for the three (3) most recent APRs to identify trends and status in performance outcomes. Other considerations may include Comprehensive School Improvement Plan Goals, previous Department MSIP findings, financial status, and leadership stability. A district’s accreditation classification remains intact until the State Board of Education rules otherwise.
Recommendations regarding accreditation status are presented to the State Board of Education for approval. The MSIP5 classification status of all districts may be found in the Accreditation Classification document.
