Join DESE’s literacy team and K-12 public school educators from across the state on July 17-18 at The Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake Ozark for the 2024 DESE Literacy Summit, “Every Teacher is a Literacy Teacher.” DESE is sponsoring two days of high-quality professional development sessions delivered by literacy experts, along with breakfasts and lunches, at no cost to participants.

Other expenses (lodging, travel, dinners, etc.) are the responsibility of attendees.

Intended Outcomes for Attendees:

  • Participate in high-quality professional development aligned with the Science of Reading for every level of understanding.
  • Gain knowledge surrounding the Science of Reading, evidence-based practices, and structures to support all learners, including English Learners and students with reading difficulties.
  • Learn more about Missouri’s Read, Lead, Exceed Initiatives and legislative requirements, including K-3 Foundational Reading Assessments and Reading Success Plans.
  • Learn from colleagues and literacy experts from across the state about best practices for supporting student literacy outcomes.

*Please note that the registration for the July 17 portion of the Summit (the K-5 focus) is closed. Registration is still open for the July 18 portion of the Summit (the 6-12 grade focus).
