
Calendar and Resources for Special Education Directors
Welcome to the Special Education Director resource page. On this page you will find a calendar with important dates and resources to help you meet requirements as well as technical assistance delivered through the Special Education Director Academy.
Special Education Director Academy 2023 - July 25 - 26, 2023
The in-person Special Education Director Academy (SEDA) will be hosted by the Office of Special Education on July 25-26, 2023, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 3300 Vandiver Dr. in Columbia, Missouri. Sessions will run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Session topics include leadership, early childhood special education, dispute resolution, discipline, postsecondary transition, data reporting and use, special education program requirements, and more. The intended audience is new special education directors with less than three years of experience, but there will also be an advanced track for directors with three or more years of experience. The advanced track is limited to 50 attendees.
SEDA registration is free, and breakfast and lunch will be provided on both days.
All other expenses including lodging, travel, and other meals, will be the responsibility of the Local Education Agency. Hilton Garden Inn will be providing a block of rooms for SEDA. For hotel booking information, please visit the hotel’s website or phone 1-877-782-9444 and use code SEDA. The room rate will be $102.90.

Special Education Virtual Support Meetings
The Office of Special Education is collaborating with Special Education Consultants from the nine Missouri Regional Professional Development Centers to provide twice-monthly Zoom meetings. The meetings are scheduled to last one hour, from nine to ten a.m., and will cover a range of timely and relevant topics for special education professionals.
