State Board of Education Reconvenes Blue Ribbon Commission on Teacher Recruitment and Retention
The Missouri State Board of Education’s (Board’s) Blue Ribbon Commission (Commission) studying teacher recruitment and retention challenges in Missouri is reconvening and moving on to its second phase of work — addressing issues related to climate and culture in schools.
“Educators statewide have been clear — working conditions must be addressed alongside salary if we want to help create long-term, sustainable change for Missouri’s educator workforce,” said Board President Charlie Shields.
The Phase 2 meeting schedule is as follows:
· April 4, 2023 – 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. — Virtual
· May 19, 2023 – 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. — Governor’s Office Building, Room 450
· June 15, 2023 – 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. — Virtual
· July 14, 2023 – 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. — Governor’s Office Building, Room 450
The Commission will deliver its Phase 2 report to the Board at their August 15, 2023 meeting.
Virtual meetings will be livestreamed at dese.mo.gov/BRC-livestream. Doors will remain open at in-person meetings for observers.
