We have a student that is a Resident II student (we are sending them to a private school to meet their IEP needs). The school is sending us the attendance - we will be reporting the attendance file in June. I've heard that some other districts with R2 students do not receive their attendance. Will we receive their attendance hours?

Yes, if you are paying tuition to this private school for this student you will receive state aid. You need to report that student in all your Student Core and Enrollment and Attendance files as an R2 student. Then report their attendance hours and you will see their hours and ADA show up as an R2 student on Screen 14.
