2010.055.00 INVALID NEED FOR CHILD CARE SUBSIDY

Some household needs are considered invalid for Child Care Subsidy. Examples of child care needs that are not valid include, but are not limited to:

  • Employment at a licensed in-home child care facility when their child attends the same facility.
  • Employment as a Six (6) of Fewer (SOF) child care provider caring for six or less children. The SOF provider is available to care for his or her own child while providing care to other children.
  • Employment working for a SOF child care provider. The SOF provider registers to be the sole caretaker of the children in their care.
  • Attending or receiving private tutoring or instruction in Adult Education and Literacy (AEL), High School Equivalency Test (HiSET), or English as a Second Language (ESL) programs not certified by Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
  • Attending training or an educational course that does not offer a certification or degree program. An example would be attending a ceramics class offered by a local university or career center.
  • Attending a course/class/training program that will not reasonably further the participant’s career. An example would be attending a culinary program with no intention of working in the culinary field.
