U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Program Highlights Missouri Schools
A Missouri public school district, along with two additional schools, earned recognition from the U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools program on Wednesday for their innovative efforts to reduce environmental impact and utility costs, improve health and wellness, and ensure sustainability education.
The 2020 honorees in Missouri include:
- Parkway C-2 School District (Chesterfield)
- Sunrise Elementary (Sunrise R-IX; DeSoto)
- Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (St. Louis)
“It’s so great to see Missouri schools once again represented on this distinguished national list,” said Commissioner of Education Margie Vandeven. “Our state’s honorees range from a single elementary school to one of the largest districts in the state. What a great example of how all of us in education can have a long-lasting, sustainable impact on our local community.”
Across the country, 39 schools, 11 districts and five postsecondary institutions were honored in the 2020 class of Green Ribbon schools.
