Feb 13, 2014

A bus carrying six students to B.W. Sheperd State School in Kansas City was involved in an auto accident Thursday morning. No one was injured.

The two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of 18th and Benton. Reports indicate the driver of the other vehicle may have run a stop sign and sideswiped the bus. Students remained on the bus following the accident before being transferred to another bus to continue on to school.

A nurse was on board at the time of the accident and evaluated the students. Police and safety representatives from First Student investigated the accident. Parents were notified and students were assessed again when they arrived at school.

B.W. Sheperd is one of 35 schools for the severely disabled in Missouri. It serves students in grades K-12.
