Missouri Schools Honored By U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Program
Four Missouri schools were recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as Green Ribbon Schools on Wednesday for their progress in the area of sustainability:
- Claymont Elementary School (Parkway C-2; Ballwin)
- Highcroft Ridge Elementary School (Parkway C-2; Chesterfield)
- Herculaneum High School (Dunklin R-V; Herculaneum)
- Raintree School (St. Louis)
Across the country, a total of 35 schools, 14 districts and four postsecondary institutions were honored for their innovative efforts to address the three “pillars” of the program: reducing environmental impact and utility costs, improving health and wellness, and ensuring effective sustainability education. The honorees were named from a pool of candidates nominated by 28 states.
