Department Recognizes Exemplary Schools
Schools from across the state were recognized recently for their commitment to professional learning.
Fourteen Missouri schools were honored recently as Professional Learning Communities Exemplary Schools for their outstanding performance in implementing the professional learning community process. These schools promote cultures focused on learning with collaborative teams and effectively using data to increase student achievement.
The 2014-15 Exemplary Schools Award Winners are:
- Bartley Elementary School, Fulton 58 School District
- Bush Elementary School, Fulton 58 School District
- Cameron Middle School, Cameron R-I School District
- Carrollton Elementary and Adams Primary Schools, Carrollton R-VII School District
- Carrollton Middle School, Carrollton R-VII School District
- Central Elementary School, Neosho R-V School District
- Cole County R-I Elementary and Middle Schools, Cole County R-I School District
- Monett Intermediate School, Monett R-I School District
- Potosi Elementary School, Potosi R-III School District
- Russellville High School, Cole County R-I School District
- St. James Middle School, St. James R-I School District
- Trojan Intermediate School, Potosi R-III School District
- Union Star High School, Union Star R-II School District
- Waynesville 6th Grade Center, Waynesville R-VI School District
Schools received their awards at the Powerful Learning Conference which took place Jan. 26-27 at Lake of the Ozarks. More than 1,400 educators from across the state attended the conference which included 50 breakouts sessions and three nationally known speakers. Missouri Commissioner of Education Dr. Margie Vandeven presented the awards.
“Leaders at these schools are committed to creating environments that can ultimately improve achievement for all students," said Dr. Vandeven.
The Missouri Professional Learning Communities Project began during the 2003-04 school year.
Supporting, preparing and developing effective educators is one of the primary goals of Missouri’s Top 10 by 20 initiative, which calls for Missouri to rank among the top 10 states for education by 2020.
