Missouri Welcomes New Members to the State Board of Education

Missouri Governor Eric Greitens has appointed two new members to the eight-member State Board of Education.

Claudia Oñate Greim, Kansas City, is compliance counsel and chief privacy officer for Lockton Companies. She has served as chairwoman of the Missouri Housing Development Commission and the Kansas City Tax Increment Financing Commissioner (TIF). Ms. Oñate Greim holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and psychology from Stanford University and a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School. She replaces John Martin on the board.

John D. “Doug” Russell, Lebanon, is president of Durham Company, which designs, manufactures and sells products for the electrical utilities industry. Mr. Russell is active in the Rotary Club, Lebanon Trustees, and Lebanon Ambassadors and has served on the University of Missouri board of curators. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Mr. Russell replaces board member Russ Still.

“Our mission is to guarantee the superior preparation and performance of every child in school and in life,” said Commissioner of Education Margie Vandeven. “We look forward to serving with the new board members to fulfill our mission, and we are grateful to our outgoing members for their commitment to Missouri schools and students.”

Ms. Oñate Greim and Mr. Russell will begin their service immediately, and their appointments are subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate.
