Preparing, developing and supporting effective educators is one of the ways Missouri is working to ensure that all Missouri students become college and career ready. Missouri created a plan to recruit, prepare and retain effective teachers for all public schoolchildren in the state, especially in high-poverty, high-minority or rural districts.

What classes can I teach with my certificate?
Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA)
Purpose: This test for admission into undergraduate educator preparation programs in Missouri includes sections on English language arts, writing, mathematics, science and social science. The assessment began in September 2013 and replaced the College BASE (CBASE) test.
Test Format: Computer-Based at a Pearson Vue Center in Missouri and nationally
Visiting Scholar Certificate
Visiting Scholar Certificate
A Visiting Scholar Certificate is available to individuals who hold an academic degree or have related occupational experience in a secondary content area. To qualify, an individual must be employed by a Missouri public school district as part of a business-education partnership initiative designed to build career pathways systems for students. The one-year certificate is limited to grades 9-12 and may be renewed twice if required professional development and performance evaluations are completed.

Teachers are certified in various areas of early childhood, elementary, middle, secondary, and special education. Certification is based upon completion of an approved teacher education program. | Career Education teachers are certified to work in Career-Technical Centers and programs such as nursing, automotive, occupational family and consumer science, and trade/industrial fields. Certification is based on occupational work experience. |
