Missouri has several methods for an individual to enter the education profession with a “certificate of license to teach.” The following routes are available:

• ABCTE Experience Log
• Accrediting Agencies and Associations
• Background/Fingerprint Information

Duplicate certificates may be obtained by logging into the Educator Certification System located within the DESE Application Sign-in.

Overview

Preparing, developing and supporting effective educators is one of the ways the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is working to ensure that all Missouri students are successful and become college and career ready. DESE annually compiles data on the effectiveness of efforts to recruit, prepare and retain effective teachers for all public schoolchildren in the state, especially in high-poverty, high-minority or rural districts.
