Volunteers

Adult Education and Literacy services are designed to teach eligible persons 16 years of age or older to read and write English and acquire basic skills necessary to function in society and to become more employable, productive and responsible citizens as well as allowing them to continue their education to at least the completion of secondary school.   Individuals and corporations can assist toward increasing the English literacy of Missouri citizens.

High School Equivalency 

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education selected a new high school equivalency test that started January 2014. Missouri's High School Equivalency (HSE) test is the HiSET test developed by Educational Testing Service (ETS). Test takers can visit https://hiset.ets.org/test_takers to schedule their High School Equivalency (HSE) testing.

Adult Education & Literacy

Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) provides free virtual and face-to-face classroom instruction to eligible Missouri citizens in Reading, Language, Mathematics, English Language Competency, Workplace Literacy, Digital Literacy, Civics, and Citizenship. Certified instructors teach all classes. Adult students receive preparation for Missouri’s High School Equivalency exam (HiSET® or GED®) integrated with career specific workforce training.
