Jeanne Loyd wins prestigious Stevinson Award

Four Vocational Rehabilitation employees were honored for their service to those with disabilities during the Missouri Rehabilitation Association Conference earlier this month.

Jeanne Loyd, assistant commissioner for the office of Adult Learning and Rehabilitation Services, was the winner of the Stevinson Award, the highest honor given by the Missouri Rehabilitation Association.

Recipients of the Stevinson Award must have made significant or outstanding contributions toward meeting the needs of persons with disabilities, and have gone above the normal call of duty.

There were three other honorees:

  • Counselor of the Year: Sharon Steward, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor III, St. Louis South VR
  • Outstanding Support Staff: Georgeta Dacila, Billing Specialist, Jefferson City VR
  • Administrator of the Year: Karen Klenke, District Supervisor, St. Louis West VR

“Vocational Rehabilitation is a very important aspect of the Department,” said Commissioner of Education Chris Nicastro. “It is great to see staff going beyond the normal call of duty to help those with disabilities.”

Improving Departmental efficiency and operational effectiveness is one of the primary goals of the Top 10 by 20, which is aimed at making Missouri one of the top 10 states for education by the year 2020.
