Becoming a DESE Approved Mediator
To become a Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) approved mediator you must have completed 16 hours of formal training, meet impartiality and assessment requirements pursuant to regulations promulgated by DESE, and complete six hours of annual training provided by DESE.
DESE approved mediators must be impartial and free of conflict of interest and may not be a member of the State Board of Education.

New applicants will be reviewed each year prior to July 1st and DESE annual training must be completed before the start of accepting mediation cases.
