First Steps Trainings and Resources

The Early Intervention section of the Office of Childhood provides a variety of training opportunities to First Steps providers, Service Coordinators and stakeholders. Providers and Service Coordinators are encouraged to continue to learn about and update their knowledge of First Steps through the options below. To make a request for training or if you have suggestions for a new training topic, please email EarlyIntervention@dese.mo.gov.

Live Virtual Trainings

The following virtual trainings are currently available for First Steps providers and Service Coordinators only. 

  • Early Childhood Outcomes
  • Family Assessment
  • Functional Outcomes

To register for a virtual training, click here. Select the training(s) and complete the registration form. You may register for multiple trainings at one time. Once your registration is accepted, a confirmation email will be sent that includes a training agenda and materials for preview (if applicable) and a Webex link to join the training on the selected date.  For questions about virtual trainings or to cancel your registration, contact the Senior Program Specialist in your region. 

In-Person Trainings By Request

To request an in-person training, contact the Senior Program Specialist for the area you serve.

  • General First Steps Training (time varies)
  • EI Examiner (3 hours, by SPOE request only)
  • Family Cost Participation (1 hour)
  • Notice of Action/Notice of Action Consent (1 hour)
  • Local Parent Education Programs and First Steps Working Together
  • ECO in First Steps and ECSE (2 hours)
  • Part C to Part B Transition (2 hours)
