National Consortium for Health Science Education (NCHSE) is a national partnership of individuals and organizations with a vested interest in health science education. The consortium was organized in 1991 to stimulate creative and innovative leadership for ensuring a well prepared health care workforce.   Missouri is a member of the NCHSE Consortium and has representation on their Board of Directors.

The National Health Science Assessment and Certification Program

The National Health Science Assessment is based on the National Healthcare Foundation Standards and Accountability Criteria. This assessment is available via an online testing system that provides both pre- and post-testing opportunities and reporting services. It has been approved as a TSA for both Perkins and MSIP 5 reporting.

Eligible students who successfully pass this online assessment will obtain a certificate issued by NCHSE. 
 

Health Science Curriculum Enhancements

The Health Science Curriculum Enhancements are designed as a resource, to be used in conjunction with state curriculum models, plans, and outlines; as well as textbooks and instructional resources that accompany textbooks and curriculum materials. These enhancements are not designed to “stand alone,” but rather to provide resources to complement instructional tools teachers are already using in their classrooms. The Department has an agreement with NCHSE that allows us to provide these materials to Missouri public school CTE health science teachers.  Missouri's status as a member of the NCHSE consortium means schools receive a discount on the assessment and other products developed and available through NCHSE.  Be sure to request the state discount prior to ordering materials.  Contact Shelly Wehmeyer for more information.
