The quality of early childhood care and education has been measured in the past by looking at program accreditation. This is a standard we hope for in all programs, but the question for many of those programs is how to meet this standard. Missouri has the opportunity to pilot a Quality Assurance Report (QAR). Improvement strategies for the QAR pilot are in progress for Cohort 1 and 2. Strategies include onsite coaching and consultation, guidance training and coaching through Conscious Discipline and regional professional development with onsite follow up.
The needs assessment, strategic plan, collaborative networking groups for home visiting and workforce career pathways will also be looking at the quality of services available. How future policies can support quality services for children and families will be a key outcome of this project.
