Two Missouri students were named Missouri’s top youth volunteers for 2019 by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honoring students for outstanding acts of volunteerism. Shae Smith (Bolivar) and Chloe Christensen (Lake Lotawana) will travel to Washington, D.C., in early May for the program’s national recognition events.

Results from the latest Annual Performance Reports for Educator Preparation Programs (APR-EPPs) have been released to provide information about the programs to the public, particularly parents and students. The APR-EPPs are based on the latest five years of data from educator preparation programs at Missouri colleges and universities.
Therese Shain, a special education teacher with the Special School District of St. Louis County, was named a winner of the prestigious Milken Educator Award during a surprise assembly on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Bayless Elementary in St. Louis. Shain has worked at Bayless Elementary since 2008 and instructs students with a variety of learning needs in grades 3-5.
Nine Missourians were honored as winners of the 2018 Missouri Breaking Traditions awards at a ceremony in Jefferson City on Monday, April 23. The Breaking Traditions awards honor students, educators and employers for their achievements related to nontraditional careers.
