Chapter 536, RSMO, Periodic Rule Review
Missouri state law requires every state agency to undergo a periodic review (every 5 years) of its regulations. (See § 536.175, RSMo.) Part of this review is the opportunity for the public to comment on rules promulgated by a state agency. The comment period for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) runs from July 1 through August 31, 2020. We have created this website to assist you in sending us comments.
DESE is the administrative arm of the State Board of Education. It is primarily a service agency that works with educators, legislators, government agencies, community leaders and citizens to maintain a strong public education system. Through its statewide school-improvement activities and regulatory functions, DESE strives to assure that all citizens have access to high-quality public education. The department does not regulate, monitor or accredit private, parochial or home schools. DESE’s responsibilities range from early childhood to adult education services.
