Hello! We hope your year is wrapping up nicely and that you have much to look forward to this summer. It certainly has been a busy semester around Dyslexia. On April 10th, the RPDC consultants and myself hosted our first workshop. We had 112 dedicated educators fill the room at the Governor’s Office Building for a day of data interpretation and learning strategies to assist all struggling students. Due to the demand, we will be looking to offer similar events in the Fall and Spring of the upcoming school year. We are also working on updating the PD offerings to assist LEA’s in meeting the 2-hour mandate.
Additionally, to assist with the dyslexia screening mandate Missouri districts and charter LEA’s may access Pearson’s Shaywitz DyslexiaScreen at no charge. The Shaywitz DyslexiaScreen is delivered in three different ways, two of which are recommended for universal screening. Find more information at this link www.pearsonassessments.com/Shaywitz or contact Diana Zinmeister, Pearson Education Assessment Consultant at email@example.com.
Pearson would like to hear from districts and charter LEAs in order to better prepare for screening needs. District dyslexia leads will find a brief, 4-question survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/B8JV5BY
We’re also excited that LETRS PD is underway throughout the state. We have a number of individual districts participating as well as the following cohorts open within the RPDC’s. Please contact the RPDC directly for information regarding face-to-face training options. More information about the LETRS professional development course can be found at https://www.voyagersopris.com/professional-development/letrs/letrs-new
