Response to Intervention
RTI is a structure to enhance instructional effectiveness through the use of evidence-based practice, systematic data collection and data based decision making. The framework is a tiered model of providing intervention services to students that is systematic and data-driven. The level or intensity of the intervention is based upon the specific academic or behavioral needs of the student. Student progress is monitored during all points in the system in order to provide information on the response of the student to the intervention implemented.

Response to Intervention KnowledgeBase
The Central Comprehensive Center (C3) is proud to announce its Response to Intervention KnowledgeBase now available on the C3 website at http://c3ta.org/. The KnowledgeBase is an online resource supporting educators in understanding and implementing the response to intervention (RTI) model.
The Response to Intervention KnowledgeBase is divided into the three stages of early implementation, identified by the National Implementation Research Network. The first stage is Exploration, and it involves consideration of the essential components of RTI models and the district or school's readiness to implement an RTI model with fidelity. During the second stage, Installation, a district or school selects an RTI model and actively works to put in place all of the supports necessary for implementing the essential components. These supports can include staff training, policies, implementation guides, forms, assessments, instructional programs, and software. The third stage is Initial Implementation, and it involves implementing the essential components. Initial Implementation can involve just a few components or teachers, and then expand over time. When the majority of teachers are implementing all components of RTI with fidelity, the district or school is in the final stage, called Full Implementation. This KnowledgeBase is geared primarily toward those in the Exploration and Installation stages, with some resources for those in the Initial Implementation stage. C3’s KnowledgeBases are concise and comprehensive topical collections of information and resources compiled by groups of content experts. KnowledgeBases are intended to serve as easy-to-access central points of information for educators. Rather than being mere lists of resources related to a broad topic, C3’s KnowledgeBases help make complex issues more approachable by presenting expert-selected resources through a process outline. Each KnowledgeBase divides a topic into elements, activities, and tasks, with resources found at the task level. KnowledgeBases covering a variety of topics are currently available, and more KnowledgeBases are in development.
While the C3 Response to Intervention KnowledgeBase was developed as part of an objective to build the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s capacity to disseminate information on this topic to districts and schools throughout the state, the information is equally applicable throughout the region and nation. The Central Comprehensive Center (C3) is part of a national network of centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) to support the improvement of educational outcomes.
