Please join us for the first in a series of webinars about Special Education and English Language Learners:  Guidance for LEA staff on Monday, December 9, 2013, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The series will address the issues and implications for English Language Learners (ELL) throughout the special education process.  The first webinar will focus on an overview of the ELL and Special Education programs including key terms and the legal foundations of each program.  In addition, data will be examined to highlight the need for more collaboration between these two programs as well as discussing common “myths”.   A new resource for use in the special education identification process for ELL students will be discussed.  Following the presentation there will be a live question and answer session.  The webinar will be presented by Nancy Thomas, Assistant Director, Special Education Compliance; Beth Bashore, Assistant Director, Special Education Effective Practices; and, Lori Hanna, Director, ELL Curriculum.
