Public Hearing on the Part C (First Steps) New System of Payments Policy

As announced through the January 20, 2012, SELS, all states making application for funds under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are required to make available for public review and comment the application packet for the federal IDEA Part C funds.  The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has posted this packet. 


Part C State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report

The Department has filed the revised Part C State Performance Plan (SPP) and Annual Performance Report (APR) with the U. S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). 


Part B State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report

The Department has filed the Part B Annual Performance Report (APR) and revised the Part B State Performance Plan (SPP). 


Release Form for Proportionate Share Carry-Over Funds Now Available

Districts choosing to release Proportionate Share Carry-over funds may now do so by completing the release form. 


Assistive Technology/Power Up 2012 Conference and Expo

Registration is now open for the 2012 Power Up Assistive Technology Conference and Expo on April 2 and 3 at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia, MO.


Special Education Improvement Grant Applications

Districts who submitted a Letter of Intent may now submit the Special Education Improvement Grant applications.  Applications are due March 2, 2012, by 5:00 p.m. 


Guidance from the Office of Civil Rights on the ADA and Students with Disabilities

The Office of Civil Rights with the U.S. Department of Education has issued new guidance on the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 for Students with Disabilities Attending Public Elementary and Secondary Schools.


Missouri First Steps System of Payments Policy

To comply with 34 CFR Part 303.521, the Office of Special Education (OSE) has created a System of Payments Policy in relation to the First Steps Program that will be incorporated into the MO State Plan later in the fall. 


Part C Application

Part B Application

All states making application for funds under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are required to make available for public review and comment the application packet for those federal funds.
