Due to the overwhelming interest and successful participation in previous workshops, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will once again collaborate with Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri to provide scholarships for a limited number of providers to attend several workshops related to providing services to children who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing ages birth – 3. The scholarship will cover expenses related to travel, registration, and a provider stipend to attend the workshop(s).
Participants enrolled in the workshop will earn 1 graduate credit per workshop. The workshops are designed to provide a spectrum of information to providers; from a general overview of best practices in early intervention in deaf education, to interpreting audiologic test results, to problem-solving strategies to ensure positive outcomes.
Workshops will be hosted at Missouri State University on the following dates:
- Workshop 1 (November 5th and 6th, 2010): Hearing Loss and Hearing Technology
- Workshop 2 (December 9th and 10th, 2010): Typical Speech and Language Development and the Impact of Hearing
