In collaboration with St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf in Chesterfield, Missouri – the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will provide scholarships for a limited number of providers to attend a training related to providing services to children who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing ages birth – 3. The scholarship will cover expenses related to travel, registration, and a provider stipend to attend the training.
The training includes in-service and mentoring components through a combination of onsite trainings and video conferencing. The training is designed to provide a broad overview of effective practices when working with children who have hearing loss, and their families, as well as providing the participant with techniques and strategies for spoken language outcomes.
For more information on the details of the training and application forms to apply for a scholarship, visit http://www.sjid.org/Training_Program_EI.htm
These trainings were made possible through the use of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) monies that allow professional development opportunities for providers who serve children in the First Steps program.
