Directory Information and Opt Out
In order to assist local education agency (LEA) child find efforts, First Steps is required to notify the school district that the child will soon reach three years of age, and may be eligible for services under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This notification is called Part C Directory Information and will be provided to the school district unless the parent “opts out” in writing.
The following documents were created to be consistent with Part C of IDEA requirements and to support a smooth transition to early childhood special education (ECSE):
