Debby Parsons has announced her retirement effective January 31, 2006.
Debby began her career with DESE as a teacher for the State Schools for
Severely Handicapped in Springfield, Missouri. She joined the Division of
Special Education staff as a Compliance Supervisor in 1982. Before assuming
the Coordinator of Special Education Services position in 2002, she was
Director of the Data Coordination Section.
Transitions are always difficult, but I am pleased to announce that Pam
Williams has agreed to assume the position of Coordinator of Special
Education Services upon Debby's retirement. Pam began working in the
Department in the Compliance Section and has been the section director since
1995. Pam will bring her strong knowledge of the federal and state
regulations to the position, as well as her experiences as an administrator
in local school districts prior to joining DESE. Over the next month, Pam
and Debby will be able to work together to assure a smooth and effective
transition.
