Subject: December 1, 2005, Count of Children
with Disabilities (Screen 11)
Source: Mary Corey, Director, Data Coordination
Intended Audience: Special education personnel responsible for data
reporting
Date: December 8, 2005
Currently, the Edit Summary Report for Screen 11 on the Data Collection Menu
does not recognize the new placement codes for the parentally placed private
school children (codes 2100, 2201, and 2301). Therefore, when you run your
Edit Summary Report you will receive an edit message if you use these codes
on Screen 11. This message can be disregarded if there are no "Edit" buttons
on the data entry screens.
Also, please recall that placement code 1401-State Operated Separate School
may only be used by the state operated schools; Missouri School for the
Blind, Missouri School for the Deaf, and the State Schools for the Severely
Handicapped. The state operated schools will use code 1401 to report the
child count of children attending their schools. In the past, regular school
districts reported these children as a census count, but they were not
included in the district's child count total.
Since census reporting requirements have been eliminated, local districts
should not report students attending state operated schools.
