Applications are now being accepted for the course Serving Preschoolers, ages three through five, with Vision Impairment in Center-based Settings, with a registration deadline of December 17, 2010.
The course covers topics related to the unique needs of young children (ages three through five) with vision impairment, including: interaction with others (language, social skills, play); literacy issues; determining reading medium; daily living skills; family involvement; cognition and concept development; orientation and mobility (O&M); preschoolers with additional impairments; assessment and the IEP; and choosing school placement and transition. The course combines self-studies, homework assignments, and two face-to-face sessions with course instructors. The course is free of charge.
