Funding is available for school districts to support a reader for a student who is legally blind. Applications and instructions can be found at the following link:

Applications should be submitted prior to serving the child but no later than January 31, 2009 for the 2008-2009 school year. A current eye report (3 years old or less) must be attached to the application when submitted to the Funds Management Section.
Funds Management will forward applications to Rehabilitation Services for the Blind for certification and, if approved, notify the school district of the student's eligibility and the requirements for reporting reader services.
