As mentioned in a previous SELS message, DESE has purchased a workshop from
the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE),
for school district administrators, on Meeting the Needs of Students who are
Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH). This workshop is limited to 50 participants,
who MUST be public school administrators (only one person per district) and
will be held in Jefferson City on November 1-2. Registration is free;
however, you will need to pay for your travel expenses. Registrations must
be received by October 9.
The workshop is designed to deliver the most current information on
requirements, practices, and resources for improving educational services
for students who are DHH. Participants will identify state issues and
proposed solutions.
To register, go to
http://dese.mo.gov/divspeced/NASDSEWS1107.html. Upon registering, you
will receive confirmation of receipt requesting additional information as to
your specific duties as it relates to Deaf or Hard of Hearing children in
your district. This information will be included with your registration
form for consideration. Once registration has closed, 50 participants will
be chosen from the pool of registrants and notified by October 12.
Additional information will be sent at that time indicating the location,
time, etc. of the workshop.
If you have any questions about the workshop, please email
