DESE has been contracting with The Transition Coalition of the University of
Kansas to work on post-secondary transition issues in the state. The
Coalition in collaboration with DESE has developed a FREE online Community
of Practice devoted to topics around transition planning. Educators,
vocational coordinators, regional consultants, and anyone interested in
transition are welcome to join the community to share resources, ask
questions, and collaborate.
For a two-week period, October 1-14, 2007, Gary Clark, Ed.D., a national
expert in transition planning and assessment, will be joining the Missouri
Community of Practice to answer questions generated by you.
Dr. Clark has been in the field of transition for 50 years, is co-author of
the Transition Planning Inventory, and has a background as a classroom
teacher, vocational rehabilitation counselor, and college professor. His
research interests include transition education and services, transition
planning assessment, and secondary special education.
Dr. Clark will be sharing information and resources including:
> What we need to know about students for transition planning and why;
