Subject: Early Childhood Exit Assessments

We are now planning for the 2006-2007 administration of the Early Childhood
Exit Assessment. This will be the third year of the assessment for Early
Childhood Special Education (ECSE) programs. All students in ECSE in your
district who will be kindergarten-eligible in the next school year
(2007-2008) are part of the assessment population.
ECSE staff will use an observation-based instrument to collect data on
their students' exit-level knowledge and skills.
Any person who will be conducting this observation must have received
training on the instrument. If your district has ECSE staff that have not
attended the training, please complete and submit registration for the fall
workshops to ensure all children who will be kindergarten-eligible during
the 2007-2008 school year are included.
Principals/administrators are encouraged to attend the first 30 minutes of
the workshop in order to obtain the logistical information first-hand.
