Subject: End of Year Data Collection for
2005-06
Source: Mary Corey, Director, Data Coordination
Intended Audience: Special Education Directors and Personnel
Date: September 8, 2006
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 requires that the
state collect information from districts on students who are
parentally-placed in private schools and students who received early
intervening services. The following link will take you to a web screen where
the data can be reported. Simply select your county-district code and
2005-06, fill in the data, and click on submit:
http://dese.mo.gov/forms/divspeced/a5002613/a5002613.html. All districts
MUST submit this information by October 15 even if all of the responses are
zero.
*Students parentally-placed in private schools: Report the number of
students evaluated during the 2005-06 school year, the number evaluated that
were found eligible, and the number found eligible that received special
education or related services from your district.
Note: This is NOT a total count of parentally-placed private school children
served by your district.
Early intervening services: Report the number of students who received early
intervening services from your district during the 2005-06 school year.
Early intervening services are services that the district may provide, using
up to 15 percent of IDEA Part B funds, to students who have NOT been
identified as needing special education and related services, but who need
additional academic and behavioral support to succeed in a general education
environment. Include children in grades kindergarten through 12.
Information on this new data collection was shared with districts via SELS
and conferences last fall. If you have questions regarding this change,
contact the Special Education Data Coordination Section at
573-526-0299 or email
webreplyspedc@dese.mo.gov.
*This information will be reported for those parentally-placed private
school students attending private schools located within the jurisdiction of
the LEA, regardless of where the student resides.
