Subject:  Funds Management Fall Workshops

The Division of Special Education is sponsoring regional workshops this fall to address issues related to special education funding.  Two separate workshops are planned: one covering Medicaid billing for direct services and the other addressing changes to state and federal special education funding, special purpose funds, and early childhood special education final expenditure reports.  Districts are strongly encouraged to participate and should identify the individuals responsible for budgeting and state reporting as the appropriate attendees. 

 

Karri Thurman, the Division’s contractor to assist districts with Medicaid provider enrollment, and Shelley Witherbee, supervisor in Funds Management, will cover Medicaid enrollment options and processing, as well as, Medicaid billing procedures for direct services.  This two-hour workshop is scheduled in four locations across the state and is available to the participants as a morning or an afternoon session.

 

The second workshop will be presented by staff from the Division’s Funds Management Section.  This workshop will be provided in seven locations across the state and will be a full day program.  In Springfield, two dates are designated in order to accommodate the maximum number of participants as the room reserved for the session has a maximum limit of 50 individuals.  Participants may choose the date that best fits their schedule.
