Subject: Autism/ASD/Scholarships for On-line Course, Into Adulthood: Transition to Work for Individuals with Autism (NEW)

We will fund up to 30 scholarships for teachers, counselors, and administrators from public school districts to participate in the October 4, 2010 - November 15, 2010, session of the online course, Into Adulthood: Transition to Work for Individuals with Autism.

This course is offered by Virginia Commonwealth University's Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Workplace Supports and Job Retention October 4, 2010 - November 15, 2010.  Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of transition planning for youth with Autism.  Details on this course can be viewed at http://www.worksupport.com/training/webcourses/autism_course.cfm.  

The scholarship will cover the cost of the tuition.  Participants are responsible for the purchase of the textbook Autism & the Transition to Adulthood: Success Beyond the Classroom by Wehman, Datlow-Smith and Schall.  The book can be purchased through amazon.com for $23.07.

Administrators may submit names, email addresses, and telephone numbers of teachers/counselors/staff they wish to recommend by September 17, 2010, to webreplyspeep@dese.mo.gov.  Please be sure to include the school district name.
