Applications for the Severely Handicapped Contracted Placement Reimbursement (SHCPR) are now available on the Division’s website at http://www.dese.mo.gov/divspeced/Finance/SHCPRindex.html.  Applications and all supporting documentation for the SHCPR are due to the Division on September 15, 2005, for services provided in the 2004-2005 school year.

 

This reimbursement is available for students who, because of the extent of their handicapping conditions(s) are unable to benefit from or meaningfully participate in public school programs.  In addition, the student must meet specific eligibility criteria in order for the district to receive reimbursement for the placement.  Instructions, eligibility criteria, and additional guidance are located at the link listed above.

 

Districts should review the SHCPR instructional manual carefully since several changes were made to the required documentation that must accompany the application.  It is important that the IEP submitted for eligibility review covers the time period for which the district is seeking reimbursement.
