Subject: Excess Cost Calculation Worksheet

As indicated in the May 27, 2008, SELS message, districts do not need to complete the Excess Cost Worksheet for the 2008-09 school year until further notice.

DESE is obtaining technical assistance to better identify a valid method of calculating excess costs to meet the requirement in 34 CFR Part 300.16.

The Division will make the presumption at this point that each district has met the Excess Cost requirement for the FY 2009 Part B payment.

Districts will be asked at a future date to complete the excess costs calculation worksheet.  If issues arise after the worksheet is completed during the school year, we will work with the district to resolve those issues.
