Date: May 19, 2010

On April 29, 2010, the consensus publication Autism Spectrum Disorders:

Missouri Best Practice Guidelines for Screening, Diagnosis, and Assessment was formally released.  This publication is the result of over 12 months of work from the Missouri Autism Guidelines Initiative, a group of 41 clinicians, professionals, state agency personnel, educators, and parents of individuals with autism spectrum disorders.

The Missouri Division of Developmental Disabilities in the Department of Mental Health partnered with the Thompson Foundation for Autism to develop these guidelines, and the printing and dissemination of materials were funded through a grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health.  This publication provides families, educators, and clinicians with best practice guidelines for screening, diagnosis, and assessment for intervention planning for individuals with ASDs.  Ancillary materials that will provide condensed guidelines and information aimed specifically for families and educators are under development and will be available soon.  Those materials as well as the best practice guidelines themselves may be ordered or downloaded by visiting http://www.autismguidelines.dmh.missouri.gov/.
