Intended Audience: District testing coordinators, directors of special education, special education teachers

Date: March 24, 2005

During the week of May 2-6, 2005, the Department will conduct field tests in the content areas of Mathematics and Communication Arts.  We will use the field-test data to collect information about the quality of items and to establish achievement-level cut points for the new grade-level MAP assessments.  Therefore, the field-test samples must represent Missouri’s student population, including students with disabilities.  Because this is a field test and no district or student reports are generated, IEP teams do not need to reconvene to determine participation in these assessments.  Participation of and accommodations for students with disabilities should mirror the operational assessment.

If you have questions or concerns about participation of students with disabilities in the field test, please contact the Division of Special Education, Compliance Section at 573-751-0699.  If you have general questions or concerns regarding the field test, please contact the Division of School Improvement, Assessment Section at 1-800-845-3545.
