Subject: Part B IDEA calculation for 2009-10

In a couple of months, we will begin our IDEA Part B calculation for the 2009-2010 school year. IDEA requires the calculation to be based on the sum of three components: Base Amount (Hold Harmless), Enrollment Calculation, and Poverty Calculation. In order to calculate these amounts, it is imperative that LEAs have the following data submitted to DESE:
1) September Enrollment (Core Data Screen 16) - This was due October 15, 2008.
2) Home School Students (Core Data Screen 15) - This was due February 15, 2009.
3) Non Public Enrollment (Non Public Registration form) - This was due
November 16, 2008.
4) Free/Reduced Lunch Count (Core Data Screen 15) - This was due February 15, 2009.
Missing LEA data will result in LEA receiving a smaller allocation. Once the statewide Part B calculation has been finalized, DESE will be unable to recalculate due to missing data since this would result in changes to all LEA allocations. Please make sure your district has submitted the required data.
