Source: Robin Martin, Supervisor, Effective Practices
Intended Audience: Superintendents, Special Education Administrators,
Principals
Date: February 26, 2007
The Division of Special Education will offer supplemental funding to
districts that employ school psychologist interns in public agencies during
the 2007-2008 school year. School psychologists can help improve students'
academic performance via development and implementation of academic and
behavior interventions. They can also provide research-based pre-referral
interventions and document student response to interventions to meet recent
revisions in federal special education laws.
The goals of this project are: to assist districts in utilizing school
psychologists to support all students, to provide districts with qualified
personnel to assist in assessment and data interpretation under NCLB and
IDEA, and to provide qualified individuals to assist in developing positive
behavior systems. The deadline for applying for the funds is August 31,
2007.
