A workshop on Social Skills for Students with Visual Impairments will be held Monday, March 2, 2009, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the University of Missouri, Columbia, #7 London Hall.

The workshop will assist teachers/staff who work with visually impaired students in designing social skills intervention strategies and to assist students in development of social skills.  Specific activities and interventions will be presented.  Cost for this workshop is $65.  Snacks, lunch, and parking hang tags will be provided.

A workshop on Introduction to the Abacus will be held Monday, March 23, 2009, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the University of Missouri, Columbia, #2 London Hall.  This workshop is designed for teachers/staff working with the blind/visually impaired students who use the abacus.  Participants will learn how to use the abacus for the four basic math functions:  addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.  Teaching strategies for working with students using the abacus will also be explored.  Six hours of professional development will be awarded at the completion of the workshop.  Cost for this workshop is $85 per person and includes an abacus, manual, snacks, lunch, and parking hang tags.
