Date: February 12, 2009
Beginning this school year (2008-2009), the MAP Assessment at the high school level has been replaced by End of Course (EOC) Assessments. The EOC assessments and their available implementation dates are:
2008-2009 - Algebra I, English II, and Biology
2009-2010 - Geometry, Algebra II, Integrated Mathematics II and III, English I, Government, and American History
For students with disabilities, the above assessments have been designated as either REQUIRED or ADDITIONAL. Students with disabilities (except those who are eligible for the MAP-A) MUST take the REQUIRED EOC Assessments, but may be determined exempt from taking the ADDITIONAL EOC Assessments by their IEP team.
The REQUIRED Assessments are: Algebra I, English II, Biology, and Government
The ADDITIONAL Assessments are: Geometry, English I, Algebra II, Integrated Mathematics II and III, and American History
All students with disabilities (except those for whom the IEP team has determined are eligible for MAP-A) are expected to take the REQUIRED EOC Assessments at some time prior to graduation or exiting High School due to age limitations. Generally, students take the EOC assessment when they have mastered the Course Level Expectations (CLE). It is up to school staff to determine when a student with a disability will take the REQUIRED EOC Assessments.
For each of the ADDITIONAL EOC Assessments, the student's IEP team makes the decision regarding whether or not the students will participate in the assessment, with or without accommodations or if the student will be exempt from participation.
Form D - Part 1: State Assessments have been revised to allow documentation of student's participation in EOC Assessments and is available on the Special Education Compliance web page in the sample IEP at http://dese.mo.gov/divspeced/Compliance/IEP/Index.html. More information on End of Course (EOC) Assessments can be found at the following web address http://dese.mo.gov/divimprove/assess/index.html.
