Subject: Follow-up of Graduates with Disabilities (Core Data Screen 08)

Source: Jackie McKim, Planner, Data Coordination Section

Intended Audience: Special Education Directors/Administrators

Date: February 1, 2005

Core Data Screen 08 (Attendance Center) of the February cycle includes a section entitled “Follow-up on 2003-2004 Graduates” which is to be used to report the post-graduation activities of prior-year graduates.  Graduates with disabilities should be included in the gender and racial/ethnic totals.  In addition, two columns of this screen pertain directly to graduates with disabilities.  The column labeled “IEP” is to be used for reporting follow-up for graduates who had IEPs.  The column labeled “COOP” is to be used for reporting follow-up for graduates who were participants in a VR Cooperative school-work program.  VR Cooperative students are a subset of students with disabilities, who are a subset of all students.

Every effort should be made to locate and to report follow-up on all graduates as the number of "UNKNOWN" reported may decrease a district's Total Employed/Continuing Education percent as calculated on their Special Education District Profile.  Please work with the person who compiles follow-up data on graduates to ensure correct and complete reporting.

If you have questions regarding the special education aspects of this collection, contact the Special Education Data Coordination section at 573-526-0299 or webreplyspedc@dese.mo.gov.
