Subject: High Need Fund (HNF) Applications due January 15, 2008

The High Need Fund was established to provide funding support to districts with special education students, without regard to disability or placement, whose educational costs exceed three times (3x) the district's Current Expenditure per Average Daily Attendance (ADA) as calculated on the district's 2007 Annual Secretary of the Board Report (ASBR).

The application and policy manual for the High Need Fund are available on the Division's website at http://www.dese.mo.gov/divspeced/Finance/HighNeedIndex.html.  All districts seeking reimbursement under this fund must complete and submit the application form.  Please review the manual as there have been many changes since last year.  Districts must use the Current Expenditure per ADA amounts published on the HNF webpage listed above.

The HNF application is due on or before January 15, 2008, and must be submitted electronically to webreplyspefm@dese.mo.gov.  Please save a copy of the application to your hard drive and then email the document as an attachment.  Districts are responsible for checking the HNF webpage to ensure the Division has received their application.
