Subject: Improvement Grants/Last Week to Send in Letters of Intent

The Division of Special Education is extending invitations to apply for Special Education Improvement Grants in the areas of Elementary Achievement and Post-Secondary Transition. This is an excellent opportunity for districts to receive funding for systems change such as three-tiered models including Response to Intervention (RtI), School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS), and Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
Letters of intent to apply must be received by January 11, 2010. The deadline for application submission is March 1, 2010, 5:00 p.m.
Applications will be submitted through the web-based system, ePeGS, and must include an Improvement Plan. A list of preapproved expenditures is included in the grant packet found at http://www.dese.mo.gov/divspeced/EffectivePractices/documents/10GPkt.pdf
